Incision care

Stay in the know with the Eversense E3 and get helpful pointers on how to manage your diabetes with it.

Incision Care For Proper Healing

Do not swim or soak the incision site in a tub for at least 5 days. Showering is fine, but avoid the direct stream of water to the site.

Until the site heals, avoid activities that may pull at the incision or cause sweating around the insertion area.

The Tegaderm™ should stay on for at least five days. If it comes off before then, replace it. Take extra care not to pull off the Steri-Strips™ when removing the Tegaderm™ pad.

Leave Steri-Strips™ on until they fall off.

NOTIFY YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDE IF:

  • Steri-strips TM come off before incision is fully closed
  • You develop a fever, or experience pain, redness, swelling, warmth, or drainage at the incision site
  • You experience a significant change in health or well-being that you believe is related to your incision site

Helpful Tips

Incision care is just one step in getting the most out of Eversense E3

01

Wait Until Steri-Strips™ Fall OFF ON Their Own

Do not pull, tug, or rub Steri-Strips™. In most cases, the Steri-Strips™ will fall off on their own within two weeks. If the strips start to curl during that time, you can trim them with scissors. If they are still in place after two weeks, speak to your health care provider to give you specific instructions about when and how to remove them.

02

Create A Routine With Your Smart Transmitter

A fully charged smart transmitter battery typically lasts approximately 24 to 36 hours. It is recommended to always charge the smart transmitter for a full 15 minutes using a wall outlet to ensure a full charge. We find that for most people, a good routine is charging it at about the same time each day, for example while taking a shower.

03

Always Use Placement Guide To Check The Connection

To get a Good or Excellent signal in the Placement Guide, try moving the smart transmitter up or down slightly or, slightly rotating it over the sensor. Wait about 1 second for the Placement Guide to refresh between each adjustment. If helpful, tap Show More Detail to display a numerical value of signal strength.
